Hey all,

I recently put a single point sling on my mag fed grizzly - love it!

The sling I used came with a noose like attachment that wraps around the stock. Seemed to work fine for the little that I've played with it.

Was wondering if there is any advantage to going with a ambi-sling plate instead (such as the one from S&J)?

The advantages I've seen is that the "noose" doesn't loosen up and move on the stock if you are using a sling plate.

It also allows the sling to pull the firearm up more, away from the ground.

That's about it. If you are happy with what you are using the only reason to change would be the need for "more" :D

IMHO dont get the ambi mount, the 'ambi' side of it can grind into your knuckle under recoil - its highly unpleasant.
the sling plates offer a more secure, cleaner mount. with something like an AR stock where there is a slot cut for a sling its a different story, but i never was a fan for just wrapping it around the grip of the gun.

out of the several ive tried (S&J, GRSC, MI, GG&G), the Midwest Industries one was the best quality and fit. id just order straight from Brownells (part #100-002-337, or whichever hand/slot style you prefer)...
(when you order, make sure you specify NOT to send you a catalogue: a couple times i ordered tiny parts from Brownells that would normally cost ~$3 to ship, and they shipped a bunch of @%#$ing catalogues with them in a huge box and charged me $20 shipping :runaway:
i had them add a note on my account not to ship me catalogues under any circumstances :D)
