I've noticed that some SxS guns have their front sling loops soldered under their barrels. I have a Boito .410 SxS and the forend is, of course, removable. Is it safe to install a sling stud in the forend, without having to worry about the forend coming off while the gun is slung over my shoulder?

Looking at the catches that hold the foregrips on to my two SxS's I don't think I'd risk it. There's a lot of leverage between the forward catch and the area you'd be adding a sling stud.

Also with the foregrip being so short wouldn't the sling hang all wrong? The sling rings on mine are a good 7 to 8 inches forward of the end of the grip. That makes a HUGE difference to how the shottie would hang.

Michaels makes swivel mounts that you drill and tap intot he bottom of the rib of a sxs- not a hard job. You dont have to solder it on.

I have a Beretta and Union Armera SxS. Both came from their respective factories with a a front swivel system drilled & tapped into the bottom
joiner rib.
