A sling stud on the forstock of my LTR busted a couple weeks ago.
So I thought ok no problem, i'll run out to the local store to replace it... pshhhh i was mistaken. I have been there twice getting two separate studs hoping that they will work.
The problem is that the HS precision stock that the rifle comes with has a very specific threading to the studs that do not match the average wood or synthetic stock.
I called remington to enquire about ordering a replacement part or if it is included with my warranty (which it is) they told me that because the stock is HS precision and all the parts that go into it i.e. the sling stud, belong to them, that I would have to send in my entire stock to them so they could send it off to H-SP.
Now that isn't really bad news, more just an inconvenience, but I would rather not send out my entire stock out to remington just to get a simple little sling stud replaced..
Is there a way I can get the part more directly without having to mail out my entire stock? any of you smithies have some ideas or places I can enquire.
I will call HS precision if I have to, but would rather not have to add the long distance charge to my phone bill unless you guys don't have any ideas.
thanks in advance
