Slooshark1's deer hunt 2016 -- the best one yet

Congrats on a great hunt and write up. A carbine pump 35 Whelen - some kinda perfect IMO. A few of us "in-the-know" types (lol) have em.

What is the Ruger chambered for that your son has in the pic?

Hunting with my son was/is one of my greatest enjoyments too. He is now in Alberta so I do not have that opportunity like I did. Sure miss him when I'm chasing whitetails. I got a small buck last week with my front stuffer and I texted him long distance as my hunt unfolded. He also shares via text his hunts with me too from out around Grande Prairie way - all real time.

I knew you would appreciate a Whelen pump, Dave.

Hunting with our kids is a special thing, my oldest daughter lives in India now and my son is on a year long climbing expedition... so it was lonely in the timber this fall... I missed them.

Great season for you and your son...well done. Both beautiful animals and I need to invest in audio books as I need all the help I can to sit still.

I thought that was only for 760s, not 7600s.

Whoops...You are right...my mistake...For the 7600s I center punch (very lightly) the tube or in the colar of the tube I lock in a couple of very short set screws. The set screws are the better fix due to being able to readjust at a later date if needed.

Thanks guys! Whelen B, my son is holding a .260 Rem. He's yet to deflower it. Maybe on spring bear. Congratulations on your BP buck.

I don't often "stalk" people here on CGN, I think that's a bit creepy.

But here I am, the proud owner of a Winchester 1886 Lightweight in .33 Winchester, doing a Google search for information, and what do my wondering eyes do appear, but a you-tube video featuring slooshark1. "I recognize that handle'" says I to meself, and over here I came, and found this thread.

Well done on the hunt!!! And please watch your in-box for a note from me about .33 WCF.

Doug
