I have a rifle with too much slop in bayonet. If I had access to a welder I would just spot weld a few bumps into the barrel socket and then file them down until it restored a tight fit. How can an off the shelf product also achieve the same thing like liquid weld to raise the metal and ensure tighter fit?

What rifle/bayonet combination are we talking about? If it's a piece of militaria, modifications would be frowned upon unless you want to chop off a bit of value.

In that case, three truck batteries, a set of jumper cables, some coat hangers, and a newspaper, and yer in business!

Batteries for power, wet the newspaper and roll it around the wire from the coat hangers. Let dry. Jumper cables to weld with. Easy. Post pics of your results!
