VMS 07 9 mm sub-machine gun (Slovakia), Sub-machine guns

Development
The VMS 07 9 mm was first shown at the IDEX 2009 defence exhibition in Abu Dhabi and is representative of modern designs featuring the use of polymer receivers to reduce overall weapon weight and to provide an ergonomically designed weapon.

Description
The VMS 07 9 mm sub-machine gun is of polymer design with the upper receiver comprising the barrel and bolt assembly and a lower receiver containing the trigger-mechanism, magazine housing and butt-stock assembly. The upper receiver is fitted with three lengths of MIL-STD M1913 Picatinny rail for the fitting of a collimator sight for normal use or other optical sighting devices as required. Emergency front and rear iron sights are fitted in a deep channel which extends the full length of the upper receiver. The non-reciprocating cocking-handle is fitted to the forward end of the upper receiver and is ambidextrous. Unusually spent case ejection can be altered for left- or right-handed firers making the VMS 07 truly ambidextrous. A telescoping butt-stock is fitted and the lower fore-end has a length of MIL-STD M1913 Picatinny rail fitted for the mounting of a laser range-finder or tactical light.

That's a pretty cool little PCC. Looks like it would be great for 3-gun type stuff :D

it does look a little smaller and more nimble than the UMP, and the ambi ejection is a good idea.

I'm curious why new smg type guns are still being chambered primarily in 9mm. I would have though 10mm would have been a better option all round. Especially in Europe where 10mm is rapidly talking over 9mm.

looks like a tavor raped a mp5.

I can live with that.

I like the charging handle location.

Looks more like a Beretta CX4 storm crossed with a MP5.

I like the ergonomics better on the Storm. The safety, and mag release are better. Plus the extended stock doesn't look that great when extended.

The only thing I like is the non reciprocating charging handle and the rail is better without the Storm fixed rabbit ears sights.

Its all about being NATO interchangeable. NATO countries keep certain standard for their ammunition so that most of the Ammo/Weapons have the Interchangeability or Design mark, this way if a German soldier has to use Spanish ammo he will know for sure that it can be use in his weapon of the same caliber. The caliber might be the same but the specs always differ.

I want a PP-2000....

The problem is that most of these sub gun manufacturers don't make a semi-auto only version. So it's have to be a special run just for the Canadian market. That and with the way things are running at the FRT lab, it could be years before we could finally get them into Canada. I think this discourages the importers.
