Slow Down the 375Ruger

Has anyone reloading, safely and effectively reduced the muzzle velocity of any bullet weight from the 375Ruger down 'considerably' ?




Factory 270gr advertises around 2800fps and 300gr just over 2600fps.




Although none of the reloading data sheets that I can find shows this, is it even possible to bring this caliber down to 2000-2300fps numbers ???

The hornady data for a 300gr bullet shows a min of 2200fps for 15 different powders

249g 1700 to 1900 depending on Powder
264g 1733 to 1900 depending on Powder
335g 1654 to 1810 depending on Powder

Aha ! Thank you both very much. I don't think that I'll be using cast, however, I'm certain that I can find something similar for bonded or solids !

The bullets hornady uses in their load data are
Rn, BTSP-RP, DGX, and DGS. they are listed on the hornady webpage

One of my favorite loads in my FN .375 Ruger is 67 gr of Varget behind a 300 Hornady RN. Velocity out of a 21" barrel is around 2350 fps and accuracy is excellent.

If you want to slow it down a LOT, as well as reduce recoil a LOT, you could try Trail Boss. I think you can get down to about 1200-1400 fps. Hodgdon has a web site that tells you how to calculate the safe load.
