Hey CGN,
While it seems like years but I am finally almost done my SLR build. This took even longer then it needed because work took me out of country for some time. I jumped on the first day pre-order for this set because I always dreamed of having my "longer ranger" AR style rifle to shoot at my local spot. I sold off all my AR-15s and 10's because there was just no local range that would allow me to shoot the 500m + that I can go to on my time off.
Anyway, Thanks to Calgary Shooting Center in working with me while away so I didn't loose my place in line for this receiver set.
So I had it sent to my local Smith, Valley Guns, in order to assemble the rifle. Usually I will do the work all myself but time frame didn't allow for this and I trust them to work on my rifles!
So here she is;

So I didn't have much planned for this rifle, other then shooting 500m+. For this I went with a CNA 20inch 1-9 twist 223 Wylde Heavy Barrel. Yes I know why that twist rate? It was cheap, and I didn't fully know what route I was going or even if I was going to keep the rifle.
Lower parts kit is standard DPMS. I went with the A1 stock because I had it lying around and I actually rather like the looks. Infact it makes me almost want to lean towards a Mk12 style rifle.
For optics I went with the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-16FFP Mil/Mil. I went this route because I couldn't believe the features for the cost. Lets give it a shot.
Over all I am impressed with fit form and finish of this rifle. Being out of the country for so long I have been oblivious to the issues and concerns persons have had in regards to these receivers. Though I am reading up here alot, and will try to give an honest opinion once I get rounds down range.
Still looking for a muzzle device, thinking of going the MK12 Clone route might start looking at that and either a PRI or KAC rail instead. Probably look used for this.
I know the big question other then how does it shoot, the cost. With mostly new parts, I am sitting at $2563.69 with the Vortex optics on it. Basically as you see it in the picture. This actually impressed me as I was expecting alot more. I know I am already talking about spending more, but I didn't know what direction I was going I just wanted a shooter. We will see if it shoots soon enough.
I'll keep you all updated as things go.
