Specifically only interested in hearing about accuracy from semi auto slug guns with rifled barrel. Considering a benelli but wondering if there is much of an accuracy advantage for the increased cost.

Been looking at the Mossberg 930 and 935, Leaning towards the 935 because I like the idea of the 3.5" just to take advantage of the Lightfield slugs providing they are accurate.

what do you guys have and what kind of accuracy are you getting at 100yds?

Never seen a 3 and half saboted slug. My mossy 930 rifled
barrel likes a slower slug. All mossberg have a 1 in 35 twist. A lightfield should work fine. I prefer remington copper solids 2 and 3/4. Expect 2 to 3 inch groups and be happy with that.
If you want excellent groups look at a bolt or single shot.

Littlefield makes 3.5 slugs

Not sure you will be able to shoot that many at one sitting. Slugs in 2 and 3/4 are pretty bad and I can not imagine what a 3 and half would feel like. Trust me you do not need that much power. Slugs hit hard plus you groupings will probably be poor due the excessive recoil. Hey I am from Burlington and like to know where to find
Lightfield slugs. Looking for 20 ga. Lightfields would work well in a mossberg as they are slower slug.

Most slugs I've tried are more accurate in 2-3/4" than their 3" versions. 2-3/4" slugs are also fun to sight in, 3" and 3-1/2" not so much.

^This.

The only semi-auto slug shotgun I've had was a Mossberg 9200, the one with the interchangeable cheek risers and rifled barrel. It shot about the same as my several rifled 870's...maybe 3-inches @ 100 yards after finding the right load. I bought it only because I wanted a lower-recoil gas-operated semi for my father to shoot when he came to hunt deer on my land. These results were obtained with cantilevered barrel-mounted scope bases. Never had much luck with scopes mounted on receivers. None of those guns could hold a candle to a couple of Savage 210 bolt guns I tried, or my favourite...a H&R Ultra slug single.

Funny...I hated the fact that I was limited to slug shotguns for deer when I lived in Ontario. When I moved to Manitoba, to a rifle zone, I sold all my slug guns except for the Ultra, and I love being able to play with a different rifle every day while hunting. But I still enjoy making some noise from time to time with slugs out of that cheapie H&R. You haven't hit a gong at 100 yards properly until you've hit it with a 12-gauge Challenger slug. :)

I do have a Benelli SBE II with a rifled slug barrel and its both a pleasure to shoot and very accurate. IT shoots Hornady's sabots very well but they dont have good expansion upon impact so I switched to Remington Ultras - much better

I have a browning gold 3 1/2" with an extra cantilever rifled barrel for it and 2 3/4" Winchester partition golds get me an easy 3" at 100 yards and a pleasure to shoot. also have a T/C encore 20 gauge rifled shotgun barrel and can usually get a 2-3" group at 100 yards with 3" Winchester dual bond slugs. I would like to get some of the 3 1/2" slugs just to try out of my browning for an unpleasant afternoon ;) and some giggles

I had rifled rem 1100 that was getting 2-3" easily at 100yards with 2-3/4 rem copper solids.

Now I use rem 870 with 3" rem accu tip and also getting 2" at 100 easily. This is at the range with nice rest for the gun.

Some people find 2-3/4" more accurate for their slug guns. For these guns it is same as for rifles where everybody needs to find what is the best ammo for
their particular firearm. I was checking reviews on sabot slugs and decided to go with remingtons due to the good feedback. Ended up with good accurate ammo that performs
wonderfully.

Never looked at 3.5" slugs BUT if the gun you purchase does not group them well you will still need to use shorter and they still have plenty of kick.
