Slug Needed

So i have my 870 loaded to the max with buck or birdshot , fire a couple and i need a slug right now . How do i open the action , put a slug in through the ejection port and close the action without elevating a buck or birdshot from the magazine , or can i ?

Say i'm grouse hunting and all of a sudden , there's a bear . I don't want to stick a slug in the magazine and cycle all of the birdshot out before getting to the slug .

In policing it's called a tatical down load. Open the action just enough to cause the round to be extracted and it will start to tip toward the ejection port. Fingertip it out and insert the slug in it's place the rounds in the mag will remain undisturbed. Practise this with dummy rounds. It can be done quite quickly. If a round does jump from the mag shake it out and stuff a slug round in the chamber and close the action. In my opinion if I needed a slug right now that means the threat is close and birdshot works wonders at 15 ft.

put the slug in the tube then pump out the round you dont want and pump again.

Pump the chambered round out and dump out the next round that comes out of the mag. Drop the new one in the breach and close it.
