Had never shot a pumpkin with a shotgun and the annual pumpkin shoot is coming at the local club...
Just wondered if a foster slug or a buckshot (OO?) would produce a better blow up effect on a pumpkin at let say 25m?

At 25 yards, definitely slugs. From my experience, buckshot won't give any "blow up effect" at 25 yards. It will just make holes.
This sounds like a good idea for a video to back up my statement!

I went and shot alot at last years event. I loaded a bunch of lee slugs, and they weren't super impresive, but over all it was pretty cool to have a decient blasting session. but shoot all you got, its pretty fun over all.

PDX1....cool! Buck and ball in a 12 ga. I want! :D where did you find it? I've only seen Brownells in the States :(

I believe that the PDX1 will be useless for pumpkin shooting @ more than 10-15m...
look @ the video and the spread of the 3 buckshot pellets...

You will end up with all 3 00 pellets missing and only hit with a low velocity 1oz slug...

I've have not shot pumpkin with shotgun . but I've shot a few using .303brit.
All they did was pass through and the pumpkin just rolled around the field.
Try drilling a couple of small holes in the top . One hole used for filling with water and the other for a vent.
