Slug recommendation

If I went through the trouble of buying a rifled barrel, I wouldn't be shooting foster slugs through it myself.

Seeing as I haven’t found a 2 3/4” or 3” sabot that shoots accurately enough to hunt with out to 100yds I’m willing to give them a go, cleaning lead out of the rifling periodically is a fair trade off for an accurate shooting slug as far as I see it. I only want to hunt bears with it as I’m not restricted by any shotgun only areas or seasons for other large game, so aside from sighting in it would see one or two slugs a year during the open bear season. Challengers are considerably cheaper than sabots and I already have a bunch of boxes of them, if they shoot well I won’t think twice.

2 3/4 inch accutips for me. I am sub MOA with them most of the time. Secret to sabot accuracy is cleaning the barrel every 3-4 shots. Plastic fouling is bad and will start to affect accuracy pretty fast in my experience.

i also used Winchester BRI sabots for years before I switched about 10 years ago.

I use both 12 and 20 ga Accutips in 2.75" and I am very happy with them.
