Did some reloading today using CamPro's 9mm RNFP FCP. These bullets measure at .354" on 3 different digital calipers I have. I then decided to slug test this gun since I haven't done it since I got it, I slugged it twice and came out at .357" with very little land marking on the bullets.

I have two options. One is to replace the barrel that is in spec at .355"-.356" or use .357" bullets.

Has anybody come across .357" bullets min 124gr, max 148gr without a cannelure that will feed in a non ramped 1911 barrel ?

I prefer copper plated but will take a look at lead options as well.

Thanks

If you slugged it with hard cast undersized bullets you'll get an erroneous measurement. Best to use soft lead, staged 38 special wad cutters work very well, and you can trust the measurement. To check try loading 'as cast' bullets - they usually run .357-.359.

- and be really hesitant to go bigger than 0.357" for bullets; 0.3575" is the biggest bullet that will fit inside a 9mm cartridge without causing serious jamming issues in my HP's chamber, they're just too big diameter.

MET you didn't say but can you push those Can Pro bullets down the barrel with a pencil? Let us know. How do the bullets shoot?

What is your load data with those 130gr RN lead DRG bullets Ganderite?

The gun I slug tested was a Norinco NP29 9mm 1911.

.38spl and .357mag use .357"-.358" dia projectiles.

The DRG bullets run .356 to .357 Perfect for a 9mm. The 357Sig, the trick is to find a nose profile compatible with the case. many 9mm bullets won't fit. This cheap DRG does.

Most of my loading is with non-canister powders, so load data won't help you. My pistol is a Glock 23c. I use a small dose of a fast powder, looking for an accurate load that will cycle the gun. Velocity is around 1000 fps. Not very fast.

I also use a flat nosed 124 gr plated bullet.

First off has anybody measured the bullet dia. on the DRG 130gr LRN?

Ok today I picked up 2 .357 FWC lead bullets that were .359"-.360" in diameter and I got 1 9mm lead round nose that measured at .356" in diameter from a friend.

I lubed the lead bullets with Hoppe's oil and used a 9mm squib rod, all the bullets came out at .357" diameter.

Replacing the barrel is not an option at this time and I know it is just a Norinco but I would like to improve the accuracy. The gun is used for general range use and will be used at service pistol matches, not needing to meet any power factor.

I found that Bullet Barn offers a 9mm 124gr LRN bullet and a 9mm 125gr LRN both at .357" in diameter. What bullet would you pick? The 124gr appears to have more bearing surface but appears to be shorter then the 125gr.

Bullet Barn 9mm-RN-BB-124gr .357" dia.

Bullet Barn 9mm-RN-BB-125gr .357" dia.
