I bought two boxes of Winchester Super X, 12gauge, 3" slugs. got them home, opened the box, and they had OO buck shells in the box.

both boxes are from the same lot no. (B1BC26)

I went back to the store, and had the clerk open all the other boxes. Same thing. All the slug boxes had buck shot in them.

weird i heard our local Canadian Tire had problems with people buying expensive shells then replaceing them with cheap shells and retunring them but this i dunno since 00 buckshot and slugs should be around the same price so werd i wonder if they got switched somehow after they were shipped or if they got into the wrong box somehow at the factory?

i bought 2 boxes of those same slugs at Canadian Tire not to long ao and they were actully slus lol but i dunno how long they could have been on the shelf i wodner if the wrong boxes got used for the buck shot at the factory?....

I guess this is proof that it's a good idea to "pattern" your shotgun before you go forth for deer.

Winchester slug's and buck are pretty close price wise at crappy tire... (walmart too)...

i bought 6 boxes of winchester 2-3/4" magnum rifled slug's at crappy tire, the kid who pulled them out made me stand back from the case when he was pulling them out and stuffing them in the lockup bag, walked to the front counter with me and handed the bag to the cashier who opend it scaned it and bagged it again (like i was buying a swedish love doll with magic tickle finger action or something perverted like that) i dident even notice the mistake till i looked at the recipt on the way to the car... 2 boxes 2-3/4" mag slug's and 4 boxes 3" rifled HP slug's...

moral of our story here? assumption is the mother of all *#^$up's
check your ammo, know your gun...
would have been interesting if some fudd with a 2-3/4" chamber stuffed a 3" slug into it... would be an interesting "store policy revision" thats for sure...

Isn't that the weirdest way to buy ammo??

i'm used to paying someone at the counter and grabbing a flat/crate/bandoleer from the showroom floor as i head out the door or just signing the line and takeing it off a rack...

"weird" does not begin to describe store policy at mega stores...

haha yea ive bought ammo at CT a few times and had to deal with them not wanting you anywhere near the cabinet when the door is opened then they seal your ammo in the bag and escort you to the cash as if its nitroglycerine in the bag then the cashier looks at it with a next to horrified look on her face as you make your purchase:)

My weirdest experience was at a local, big name chain when I bought a half dozen boxes of .410 slugs. The saleslady rang it in and I then realized my license was at home on my scanner so I told her I would have to come back as I didn't have it. Normally, a warning comes up on the till display saying you must show a license but for some reason it didn't happen this time. She looked at me and said, "I guess you don't need it for this kind," and proceeded to put it through. Who am I to argue!

Sealed bag at Can Tire??? Never had this done in Winnipeg yet?
They are supposed to. But 70% of the time they never do it for me. I almost started laughing one day when they locked it in the bag and walked me to the cashier and i'm not kiding I was the only one in the store. LOL. But I don't care, I like suporting my local shops but the ammo is alot cheaper at canadian tire and walmart

Thinks that's bad?
Just before Halloween i stopped by to get some shot for next day's shoot. Every single cabinet from gun/paintball/airgun was empty. I'm talking about triggers locks, paintballs, pellets, EVERYTHING. Asked the girl where the heck is all the ammo. She said someone shot himself in a Surrey location

Funny alot of folk's say that.... and in alot of cases it's true because retail hunting/shooting shop's have display's, insurance, staff, inventory's of whiz-bang gimicky doodad's OR they have the attitude that they are the only shop in an area so they can set the price's...

But every now an then your lucky enough to live close to a great shop that's staffed by shooter's and will compete with the big chain store's... in most cases even blow them outta the water....

I spend most of my money at such a place here in the interior...

25 years ago a guy popped himself in the Canadian tire store, Winnipeg I worked at. Asked to see a shotgun off the shelf and walked down the aisle and reached in his pocket, pulled out his own 12 gauge shell, loaded it and pow.....did himself in !!!

There was a definite clean-up on aisle "5"

Cheaper it may be at Walmart or CT, but I'd rather go to the gunshop where I usually don't have to search or wait for some teenager to show up at the counter because it is never staffed. I guess everybody isn't lucky enough to have a WSS and SIR in town with equivalent prices though.

Always check your ammo before you buy it! No matter where you buy it from. Had a few boxes of Federal 38spl's a couple of years back, 158gr leads, was shooting at an indoor lead only range, went to do a reload and noticed a copper jacket. Turned out to be a 125 gr JHP, found 2 more in the batch I bought. Factory ammo, gun store. Go figure?

I bought the last 13 boxes of Winchester Super X slugs at the Wal-Mart in Fairviewpark Mall in Kitchener, Waterloo at $4.87/box. According to the clerk, I'll never see slugs at that WalMart ever again.

Since most stores have no return on ammo policy, the sales person should dispay all the box information to the customer and say, "Is this what you want?"
