I have a old SXS 12 gauge with 30" barrels and an 18.4mm (?) choke. Kicks like a mule with some 2 3/4 #4 shot, and am really tempted to launch some federal rifled slugs. If that works, a cheap scope, a hydraulic buffer on the stock for recoil and some sort of improvement on the forward grip might make ~75 yard slug gun. Ideas? Yes, I'm pretty new at this.

Dunno about all the tinkering - go ahead, i guess, if you feel like it. I've shot slugs many many times out of my old SxS on bear - no problems out to 40 or 50 meters or so, ever. I have put a fibre optic pipe on the front lately coz my eyes (like the rest of me) ain't young anymore, but other than that it's the same old gun I've carried in the bush for 35 years+.

it will not shoot them the same out of both barrels it will not give double rifle patterns in a double gun you want the bullets to be right and life of the bull not hitting the bull a shotgun is regulated for shot not ball/slug unless it says so.

ive gotten good results using round ball slugs in one barrel and buckshot in the other but ive liked buckshot in both the most

My sxs prints 4" horizontal by 2" vertical groups at 50 yards with rio star 2 3/4" slugs. Best ting to do is try as many brands of slugs to see what your gun likes

Most inexpensive sxs shotguns do not have regulated barrels. First you should run test shots to see if the barrels hit the same point of impact. That will be determinate of how you proceed.

yes try diffrernt brands but remember you don want them hitting the same point you will want them side by side. if they hit the same aim point then at one point they cross paths the left will shot on the right and the right will shoot on the left at that point
