Slugs through full choke M-37

Can anyone advise of the effects of shooting slugs through an Ithaca M-37 with full choke? No, no--not at that end. I mean inside. Like, is that practise generally kind to the old pumpgun or entirely wrong?

From what I have read and heard is that of all shotguns.....the Ithaca M37 is the best for this because it was explained to me by an older shooter is that the "rotoforged" barrels have a long straight tapered choke starting from right near the end of the forcing cones. Most shotgun manufacturers have the choke much much closer to the muzzle end. Hence there is less of an abrupt disturbance on the slug. Resulting in the best smoothbore slug shooter on the US market at that time.
Anyone with more insight please feel free to add any informed info......
 
PS, it is strongly advised by recent ammo makers that you DO NOT shoot any sabot slug ( newer slugs with a plastic carrier base ) out of smooth bore guns. I do not know why, AND any mention in my previous post refered to the older style "foster" type soft lead slug, which are the cheapest and most commonly found in stores............
 
I never heard that they don't recomend fireing sabot slug's from a smooth bore why not ? my father and I both fire the odd 2 3/4 sabot from 12 gauge full choke smooth bore and never had a problem.
 
I think they don't recommend it because there is no rifling to spin the sabot and hence a distinct lack of accuracy. I believe that Foster style slugs are rilfed and overcoome the fact that the barrel is smooth

I maybe I'm hungover and remembering something else
 
Oh good had me worried for a minute there we just have them for emergincy's by maybe pissing off a bear while bird hunting.

That's exactly what I had in mind. More of a just-in-case than a regular practice but why not take your best option if the just-in-case involves bears, I say.
