Slugs?

HEHEHEHE, No. Barrels are steel (hard) and slugs are lead/copper (Soft) No damage is done. You can shoot a lifetime of slugs out of any smoothbore and your shoulder will break before the gun.

The only thing rifled slugs will do is break your wallet as they a much more expensive that foster style slugs and you gain no benefit.

Look at Brenneke or Challenger slugs. Fairly accurate and designed for smoothbores.

I dont understand why you want to shoot rifled slugs out of a smooth bore. Many you have a rifled choke??? sabots are extremely expensive and offer no greater accuracy through a smooth bore ( unless you have a rifled choke.)

Aren't rifled slugs designed to be fired from smoothbored barrels to begin with ? Hence the reason why the projectile is factory-rifled, since the barrel isn't ?

Yeah "rifled" slugs usually refers to the Foster type, although the Brennekes {and the quasi Brenneke Fiocci Aeroslug} of course have "rifling" as well.

They all work fine in smoothbores and won't cause any damage unless maybe you put a lot of rounds through a choke tube setup that's iffy in quality or that has worked loose.

Is there any problem firing these through a turkey choke? I was told there have been bear seen where I'm turkey hunting, so my plan was to take along some slugs......just in case.... :runaway:

Bear in SW ontario?!?!? Really?

I wouldn't fire slugs through a turkey choke, IIRC, improved or modified is fine, but full and tighter is a no no for slugs.

We've relocated about 6 times since I joined CGN....the one serious downfall of picking a geographically specific username.....your London area turkey hunts should still be bear free!

whew, cause for a minute there I thought back to all the times I have seen eyes staring back at me in the bush at 5 am, pitch black.

Glad to know I wasn't staring death in the eyes. :D
