Charlie Sisk and Richard Mann have teamed up to create a whole new line of wildcats using the .325WSM case and the .243WSSM case.

The .416 SM2 outperforms the .404 Jeffery... it launches a 325gr bullet at 2600fps, 370gr @ 2425 and a 400gr @ 2380fps....
Howabout that, a Dangerous Game cartridge capable of magnum performance in a Short Action rifle...:)
The new SM2 cartridges include .375, 9.3, .416 and 458 calibers!
According to Charlie the new SM2 cartridges can all be chambered in short-action rifles with a shorter bolt throw, over-all lengrh and lighter weight. All are available from Sisk rifles and come with pressure-tested handloading data.
Redding now offers dies for some of the new cartridges!:)

They have also developed SM2 rounds in .30, 8mm, .338 and .35 caliber, and these Super shorts are using the .243 WSSM as the parent case.

Very interesting and an excellent use for the WSM family.

The pressures will surely be magnum levels so may or may not be a concern in a Dangerous game application.

Make for handier rifles...

Wow, and I thought we wandered all over the map on a post. These guys are hilarious.

As has been debated to death, whatever floats your boat. High load density/high pressure/short to equal low density/low pressure/long - it's all good.

Now if the powder companies would catch up with stuff to really get these cases going. Then we might be on to something.

Jerry

I'm all in favour of new rounds that are purpose specific but what a lot of people fail to remember about the older dangerous game rounds like the 416 Rigby is that they kept pressures to between 40k & 45k psi.
This seems fairly insignificant to a North American hunter who's main season is during Autumn when temperatures are quite mild but Africa sees some extremely hot conditions almost all year round.
As such a rifle that packs serious punch using lower chamber pressures suddenly seems like a great idea.
Here in Australia when we hunt during Summer we constantly have to ensure that no ammo is left in full sunlight, radiated heat or in a place in a vehicle that it could get warm.
This is no mean task when the mercury really gets up.
The 416 Rigby is of course capable of some astounding performance if you want to push it but those on an African hunt would do well to spare their shoulders and their rifles by keeping to the more conservative loads.
The buffalo or lion you take with it won't know the difference.

Kombi I have come to realize that the air in your general vicinity is hotter than the air in mine....:p

Now that was a good one... don't you think!;) :D
:D :D :D :D
Touche', my friend.
However I have it on good authority that air around you is often astounding blue, which is quite a feat.:p
Fortunately your cooler climate has obviated the need for auxiliary cooling in your vicinity.
"Is that the Northern Lights, Dad?"
"Nope, son. Big Redd is swearing at that SOB from across the pond again.":D :D

A few years back John Noveske designed and built the 450 Noveske on the 300WSM case.
He put iot into a little carbine forr dangerous game use.
I saw so,me pics of the recoil and it was indeed wicked, but very accurate.

I thought I liked the 6.5WSM , but the 6.5SAUM, is a bit more effificient.
The 6.5WSSM however, is just too much fun!!

At one time I was thinking of doing a 35WSM, but that was before the 325.
It's all good, wildcatting is akin to hotrodding cars, all fun.
As far as Hodgon goes, some of our ammo got left open on the sand the other day at he oputpost, and was VERY hot when it went into the rifles, no sweat!
Varget and 30 cal bullets in tight chambers.

A compliment of the highest order, especially since I've witnessed you slay wannabes with art of a true master.
I stand at your service, sir.;)
Now that we've successfully hijacked this thread, where should we get the pilot to land and what will be out ransom demands? :D

35c in the sun, hotter against the sand i would imagine.
BTW, you can see the rocks up on the bank in this pic, three white marlks.
Our target rock is just low and left of the middle rock, but you can't see it in the pic, you'll have to come on out and i will pint it out to you!:D

I think I can make it out, Cat.;)
And btw, for sparring with us you now join our merry band of tangent men.
Prepare to don your metaphorical black balaclava and wave that metaphorical AK in a distinctly unhinged manner.:p
