What is the smallest .22 built today for youngsters? I have a Cooey junior, but it is still too long in the LOP department. He is going to shoot from bags until he has the strength to hold a rifle proper. He is going to learn range saftey and commands, loading and unloading and trigger control for now. We can work on real shooting positions when he is bigger. What is the smallest, I would prefer a ####-on-opening style with a safety. Thanks for any reply.

why not buy an older Cooey model 39 or the like. Cut the stock to fit, shorten the barrel to 18" and if you need to lengthen the stock as he grows, then just add a recoil pad. Not much $ involved at all.

Ace 1

I've got an OLD Ace 1 that's been in the family for about 50 years or so, I think it's on its 4th stock.
I bubba'd an extremely small stock for my 7 year old who is quite small and he's one happy camper. I shoot it as a pistol as as the bolt almost hits me in the eye if I shoulder it.
Can send you pictures if you're interested.

You got to be crazy. Remington Model "FIVE" turn that kid into a tac driver and also the mechanics's on it are exactly like a real rifle. Also the weight and feel is just like a reel rifle and the iron sight's are good out to the 50 meter but if you mount a scope on it he can shoot out the tooniee @ the 100 meter. Got one for my god son for when he come to the range with me and he love's it more than the AR-15, CZ 858 and the M-14.
