small 22 for the kids

Last year i picked up a little .22 for my two boys aged 5 and 7 from my local sports store. Its made by the Rogue rifle company in Lewiston Idaho called a chipmunk. It shoots short, long and long rifle. Rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation. Its a single shot pull back bolt 30'' long overall. I think I payed around $100 for it. would get you away from cutting stocks.

I googled "chipmunk rifle" and found this :

Rouge Rifle Company Closed Their Doors The Beginning Of January 2007.

Looks like Chipmunks are now Crickett, and I bet its no longer $100

When I was a boy, I found I had the most fun and best results with an AR 7. I found the cooey 39 to be boring and heavy, on a plus the side the AR 7 was fun to assemble, and the aperture sight was easier to use. I was 7 at the time.

Did the fact that the AR-7 was a semi have anything to do with your preferences?

I recently purchased a beautifully cut down Remington 581 from brno284 here on the EE. It will be the perfect unit to introduce my 6 yr old to proper shooting techniques. He is just chomping at the bit to get out to try it. It is light, short and ideal for the intended purpose. This could be done to practically any single shot or detachible magazine 22 rimfire that is fairly light to begin with. Regards, Eagleye.
