I am looking for some .223 Small base Dies. From CGNer, online store or a dealer in the montreal area
Apparently there are a must for AR

Thanks

Brownells has them (though I can't find them on the website).

Sinclair has Redding small base dies.

Dillons work, I'm reloading .223 for an AR using Dillon dies. They can be purchased directly from Dillon, sponsors may carry Dillon too.

Does anyone except RCBS make small base dies? I know Lee and Hornady only offer one version of .223 dies.

I always figured "small base" dies were just one more chapter in the book of RCBS scams and bullsiht.

Sinclair International should have them in stock.
It's owned by Brownell's, so the prices have improved somewhat.

I Wouldn't say they are BS, once in a while you find a gun that is usually a semi or lever action that FL's just don't seem to get the base small enough to function smoothly. They usually has an oversized chamber and FL's just don't have what it takes to get the case head back to something useable. Few and far between though, Most AR's wouldn't require them.

I can't say about the AR, but I've found small base dies to be a good match on some minimum chambered bolt guns. My .300 Win Mag SB gets a pretty good workout, because with the decapper removed it becomes a small base body die for .257 Weatherby, 7 mm Rem Mag and probably .264 Win though I don't have one. It comes in handy when you have more than one rifle in favorite calibers or a source of free brass.
My 30-06 BAR is happier with a little extra squeeze, esp when the brass has been well used.

1)FL size your brass
2) Chamber check your brass to ensure your sizer die is set properly.
3) Trim to length your brass (1.750" - 1.760" is max. length)
4) Load to a max oal of 2.260" (2.250" is better) so your ammo isn't hanging up in your magazines.
