Small flat spot on my 308 shoulder when resizing

Hi folks. So started sizing my 308 brass today. Pulled the decapping pin and checked out the die everything looks good.
Now I've noticed there is a small "dent" on the shoulder of the brass I've resized. It's consistent on the brass and only thing I can tell is there is a small hole drilled into the die body where this is happening. The locking ring covers it so maybe it's air being trapped?

I'm using the lee4pc ultimate die

Are you lubing the shoulder? Did you clean the die of factory oil when you were inspecting it?

The lube from properly lubed cases will gradually build up on the walls of the sizing die and get pushed over the shoulder, causing the harmless, but unsightly dents in the shoulder.
Solution is to take the centre out of the die once in a while and thoroughly clean it.

clean the hole it is probably plugged and traps air had this happen with my .270 die

Wow quick replys! Thanks you guys. I just got the dies today. I did clean them first but maybe I will do it again tonight.

I'm using lanoline diluted with 99% isopropyl lightly sprayed on the cases. I didn't think I'm using too much but I'll try just wiping them before resizing the rest.

On a second note I'll just be shooting my ammo out of one particular rifle so I'll be using the neck bushing die for the first time once I fire these loads.

The hazard of not enough lube is a stuck case.... You'll know right away if there's not enough lube. Rather than wiping the lube off before sizing, I would try spraying less on.

Not all dies have that hole for bleeding off the air.

As stated, the dents come from excess lube.

I make sure to put NO lube whatsoever on the shoulder of bottleneck cases.

I dip my necks in shot coated with graphite, and lube the body only with Imperial sizing wax.

Have not had a lube dent in years.

As Bruce pointed out, not all dies have the drilled pressure relief hole.

After you put 50.000 psi + on those cases, the dents will be gone., Then neck size next time.

We have all done it. Purely cosmetic.
