This is an opinion based post only

This year I'm thinking about what I'm going to use for squirrel and rabbit what I'm considering taking out of the safe are a double barrel SxS hammer gun(12 gauge), a SxS internal hammer SxS(12 gauge), or my old Stevens pump 12 gauge

I have other nicer guns but I just like the nostalgic feel of the older guns so what would you use
And what do you use(post if not listed)

Have fun and happy hunting

I'd leave the Stevens pump in the cabinet, they weren't Stevens' finest work. Hammer or hammerless is a personal perference. In the field I've always prefered a hammer gun myself.

If you wish to hone your skills, an old 22 rimfire.
Something that would shoot shorts too.
Do I dare say it?

My all time favorite is the Winchester 69A's.
They work without a hicckup and shoot all the ammo.
Amazingly well too.

I always carried my Ithaca 300 xl semi 12 ga which I inherited from my dad and have shot a pile of partridge with, this year I will be using my new to me savage 24 in 22/20ga.

I'd pic the one that patterns the best. I started off last year using a 20g 870 and ended using a rem 1100. I could get the 1100 to shoot a much smaller pattern. For rabbits a light load cast bullet in a 44 mag lever action works really well when the bush gets really tight and seems to do less damage due to the low velocities.

Ithaca M87 Turkeyslayer in 12 gauge or an Ithaca M37 Featerhlight in 20 gauge or an Ithaca/SKB O/U 26" barrels, also in 20 gauge.

And sometimes a reproduction blunderbuss in 10 bore.

I have a chiappa double badger. 22lr over 410. Put a 1x scope on it as the stock irons are pretty fat for precise shots with the 22.
