Small Hands - Best 45/40/9mm?

It really has nothing to do with small/big hands, just how you prefer to grip and what's comfortable for you. I have tiny hands, and I shoot my full size HK45 way better than I shoot my PX4 in 9mm, or the G17 I had. I even have the larger of the 2 backstraps it came with on the HK45 just because I like the way it fills my palm. My suggestion is go to a gun store and fondle all the pistols you can, and maybe try some out at the range if people will let you.

M&P has adjustable back straps. Grip can be made quite small for the 9mm and 40. I think the smallest 45 grip is about the same as a medium 40 grip (in M&P).

A 1911 has 3 different length triggers. A short trigger (like the current el cheapo CanAms) works well with a small hand.

Nice thing about adjustable backstraps is you can shoot with the different sizes and choose the one that gets the best results. That may not be the one that "feels' the best.

Thank you for the input.

I have a few handguns at home, mostly 22's and revolvers. I also have an NP-58 (226 clone) and find it to large to be comfortable. I can shoot it, it just doesn't feel pleasant.

I have handled 1911's (even bought and sold one before shooting it. That dang EE!) and they do feel nice. Now with a short list I can handle a few without drawing angry looks from the counter staff. And every time I pick one up I have to say "pew pew" as I point it in a safe direction....

Thanks again and I will let y'all know how I proceed. And if anyone thinks something may have been missed or see's a great deal please let me know.

Having little midget hands the biggest problem I find with many guns is the placement/size of the mag release (or other controls). I don't like having to shift my grip in order to manipulate any of the controls.
I ended up getting an HK P30 partly because of the interchangeable back/side straps, partly due to the ambi mag release I can manipulate with my middle finger, instead of the typical layout where I have to reach out my thumb to press a button.

Check out the Walther P99 AS. very ergonomic, small grip with different backstraps for different sized hands. it handles beautifully, exceptionally accurate, has an excellent trigger, decocker, great adjustable white dot sights. it is definitely my favourite polymer frame gun on the market. great deal at canada ammo now too.

Where can you get that short reach/curve trigger for the 1911? What about slim grips? Any recommendations?

I purchased mine from Freedom Ventures, they're a site sponsor on here. I searched a YouTube video on how to install and just took my time. I have to say its a huge improvement over the standard unit.

Most any gun shop/supplier/gunsmith that sells 1911 parts will have short reach triggers. Can't say on the grips as I have never looked for them, but in general VZ grips are superb and I like Hogue as well. Both will ship north and should be able to help you out on that.
