Small Hands

Browning 1911-.380, this thing is tiny! I own a number of the other handguns mentioned and it's no contest between the Browning and the others for being smaller.

yah, my wife is just shy of 5 ft and she has small hands. She shoots a Ruger MKIII but the two pistol that fits her best is the Browning 1911-22 which is the .22 version of the above mentioned by Betty-Lou and the Ruger Bearcat, single action revolver. I am an average size guy who shoots a 92fs and 1911 but the 1911-22 and Bearcat feels perfectly fine in my hands.

Ruger SR9, very slim, fits my wife's small hands and when I flip the backstrap over fits my large hands just fine and the price is also great !

I was once on the holy grail hunt for small grip hand guns.

Every thing felt too large to me.

Set up a CZ75 and 1911 with ultra thin grips. Passed on purchasing BHP (too big).

Got a M&P pro and discovered that I shot better with the medium back strap rather than the small!!

My CZ85C and 1911 now sport factory grips, and I love my BHP

BTB - SR9 is about the same speed as a 1911 size wise. The trigger is kind of strange. Ask me how I know this.

You don't have small hands if the 92FS fits you well... Small is relative, so I can't say how small the OP's hands are. I wear an XL glove and going between the large and compact guns isn't much of a problem for me. When I had a 1911 and CZ75 I bought thicker grips as it felt better with a beefier grip.

Sig 226 fit me perfectly so I got rid of almost everything else I had other than my H&K USP/Beretta 92FS which I definitely wouldn't recommend for any small handed person.
Actually now that I think about it, I hated the beretta probably because it was a stretch to handle it. It was my least favorite pistol. The p226 and mp9 were top two favorite guns.

Surprised no one recommended the Glock G19.

Hard for me to judge for someone else though. I have large hands so just about everything seems small. Whenever I grab the G19 I feel like Will Smith in Men in Black when they hand him that little tiny noisy cricket pistol and he holds it real dainty with just his thumb and first finger. If the G19 gives me that feeling figure it must be good for small hands.

I have small to medium hands, size 8.5 gloves, and I am a lefty. The biggest factor will be how the grip and trigger feel in your hands, after you ensure you are gripping it correctly. By far, the best small hand gripped gun in typical caliber is the S&W M&P. The CZ 75/85 is very good in fit ans size, but the DA trigger seems a bit far. The H&K was acceptable as was the Beretta 92 or any of the clones. You will find most of the 1911 style pistol grips are too large, but they can be reduced. Even though I wanted to buy one, the SIG 226 did not feel comfortable in my hand. As suggested, a G4 Glock will feel smaller as well.

You should like how it feels before you buy it. Sometimes you preference may change after firing a few hundred rounds, but each pistol has a certain feel you may like, or learn to hate. As well, depending on what you want to do with your guns, you may have to customize it or compromise on the way it feels. For instance, I didn't like how my STI open gun felt in my hands until I reduced the grip; it is much better now, but I still need to fix one issue, lowering the safety to keep my thumb on top while shooting and to reduce the pressure point the beaver tail creates on the inside of my thumb. By comparison, the CZ Shadow fit is like a custom glove.

The compact size guns with 106mm Canada barrels would probably fit the bill but I've never been a fan of paying a few hundred more for a barrel which protrudes. I had a Gen 4 Glock 19 and on my size large hands I felt it was a little short in grip length, width was fine. I do prefer the smallest grips on any gun since I like to wrap my hands around as much as possible, the Ruger SR9 had the thinnest grip of any double stack i've handled, sure there's better guns but I think every polymer designer could thin the designs out a bit.

I think it has more to do with the shape than the size of your hands. For reference, I wear a small in Mechanix gloves. On my HK45 I use the large back strap. I don't know why but it fits my hand the best. Bit of a reach for things, but I use my trigger finger for the mag release. Just for shiggles try out the other back straps and see how they feel and more importantly how you shoot with them on.

How small are we talking here?

You might have to move to the states and get a Ruger LC9
