Small, light, black bear and deer carbine?

The answer to these questions has been known to rural Canadians for some time. It doesn't have to be an original "jungle carbine"...even given the current inflated prices for vintage military guns, you still should be able to pick up a chopped Lee-Enfield .303 for around $150.

I agree, this would do the job perfectly

14" 20ga with slugs for a short 5lb gun, I also bought a renegade and installed my 10.5" 300blk AR15 components so now it's a non restricted rifle 4.5lbs and 28" long with barnes 110gr blackout ammo it's even smaller and lighter

I now always have my Rossi 92 357mag out with me. The 16" barrel makes it super light and very handy. I reload my 357 pretty stoutly, so I have no qualms inside 75 yds shooting a bear or deer. I am on the lookout for a 454 casull in the same gun.

The Ruger American Ranch in .450 Bushmaster is a light, compact rifle fer bolt gun folks. Bare gun be only 5.5 lbs and is an accurate bugger that handles & carries well for me. Scoped up weight on mine be a smidge over 6.5 lbs. and it be used only with hardcast boolits in weights from 185-360 gr depending on the mission. ;)

Ruger gunsite scout in .308, or a Win model 94 in 30-30 in a carbine length version. Both are short, light and easy to handle and point. .308 and 30-30 have plenty of smack down in them for black bear.

I have a Savage Axis scout in 762x39. It’s cheap, light, durable, has peep sights. The only issue are the mags, but savage replaced mine for free. Stainless and plastic hold up good. It’s been a decent truck, 4 wheeler gun so far

I recently purchased a 20" stainless T/C Katahdin Prohunter barrel in 45-70 finally put some loads together for it this afternoon have 350gr cast WLNGC - 350gr JHP's and 350gr Swift A-Frames also put together some Cast Performance 460gr WLNGC's.

Yes its just a single shot and doesn't have a detachable magazine but it will put down anything with authority...

I have the same thing in .500 S&W - just waiting for some pills to come in from Jet Bullets so I can give a black bear a subcutaneous lead injection in the next few weeks...

That looks to be a handy little thing . I may have to invest in one .

Rossi Ranch Hand / Henry Mare’s leg in 44 magnum with a full stock. If you reload and the cartridges are legal for big game where you hunt, 45 colt can be loaded up to outperform the 44 magnum.
