I'm looking for a small light weight target air pistol for my 11yr daughter. She is currently borrowing a TAU 7! To shoot at 10m, but because of her size it's too large (read heavy) I hate to say this but it actually doesnt need to be super accurate, but it does need to be .177 and small/light. My preference would be CO2, PCP etc and not lever (again its a strength thing).

Any suggestions?

Check-out D&L airgun in BC. I haven't bought a gun from them, but have bought pellets and scope rings~great people to deal with. The only pistols that come to mind are both .22cal., but both good value for what you get and are affordable. A Crosman 2240, and a BS EB22 http://www.dlairgun.com/Air-Pistols/Benjamin-Sheridan/011_EB22.html This pistol used to be available in .177 if memory serves. An added bonus of the 2240 is that you can easily add a $19 skeletal stock (Crosman part # 1399) and make it a really light, small carbine. With all the aftermarket goodies for the 2240, I wouldn't be surprised if you could get the barrel swapped for .177.

Weihrauch HW40 is light and accurate (one pump air). Under $200 most online airgun sites.
There is a Beeman variant that is sometimes at that tire store place for a bit less (I have one). I have heard that you should avoid the 'Marksman' variant which is from the failed QA pile.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm concerned that she won't be able to actuate the lever on these side or over lever pistols, does anyone have experience with them? I'm not worried about me, but she 's only 11 and not the biggest kid out there. I'd like her to be able to shoot a full relay on her own without me needing to #### it for her every time.

The only entry level target pistol that I could find is a Beeman P3, its listed at 1.7 lbs but its a single stroke pneumatic. That Tau is about your best choice for a youngster.

If you are serious at getting her into ISSF 10m air pistol, Tau7 compact or junior would be the cheaper way to go. If money isn't really an issue, pardini kid,fwb p11 and steyr lp2 compact would be good choices too.

I shoot an HW40 and it will be to hard for her to compress. The Daisy 717 or 777 may be something she will be able to compress. Its much easier.
ISSF target pistols and cheap dont really go together.

I was looking on line at the Daisy, how well does it shoot? It looked relatively heavy as well, she currently finds the Tau 7 heavy.

Ain't that the truth. Not wanting to sound cheap but I'm cringing at spending $1000++ or even $700 for something if she isn't interested in sticking with it.

You wont do much better than the Tau 7 for ISSF shooting unless your willing to spend over a $1000 + .
At our club we are slowly retiring our Tau 7's and upgrading to some Feinwerkbau like this for our junior program http://www.feinwerkbau.de/en/Sporting-Weapons/Air-Pistols/Air-Pistol-Model-P11
Do some fund raising at your club.

We have talked about fund raising actually, but I was thinking of getting her something of her own. Where are you getting your Feinwerkbaus, Cibles? BTW I don't suppose you are you selling off your TAU 7s for a good price are you ;).

The daisy easily shoots as well at the hw40. I cant comment too much on velocity but its adequate for 10m.
You wont sink too much into one so if she doesnt stick with it theres no problem.
I had a 717 that shot well enough to do a head shot one hit kill on a grackle at 15 yrds. But thats all i have to say a out that.

If you ask Cible, Jocelyn may be able to find you a used Tau Junior. If she does not want to stick with it you can probably sell it for what you bought it for.

IamC how hard was the 717 to ####? You think that an 11year old girl could ####?

HibouAttentif, I haven't had a chance to call Cibles yet, but it's on the todo list.
