Small pistol primers

I'm not new to reloading but new to 357 magnum. I would like to load some light to moderate loads with 130gr hard cast lead. I have a bunch of CCI #500 from when I loaded 40 S&W. Most loading data I see says to use magnum primers. I looked at Alliant's web site for loading data and they recommend CCI #500 which are standard primers, as I was thinking about trying some 2400, all the manuals I looked at recommend magnum. So some conflicting data. I plan on using 5.2-5.8 grains of SR7625 for the 130gr lead. I have used this powder with 38 special with CCI #500 and had no problems with ignition. Any advice would be appreciated.

Well, let's put it this way.
2400 powder came out about 1900.
The 357 came out about 1935.
Magnum primers came out about 1965.
How do you think they got along all those years before magnum primers came out?
 
I usually use Winchester Small Pistol for all small pistol calibres (including .357 Magnum). I probably have or have used Magnums but usually don't bother.

I think you will be ok with any primer you choose.

As another shocker I ended up with a bunch of Large Rifle Magnum that have been shooting just fine in non magnum required cases and powders.
