these reload just like the normal large primer pocket .45 cases, but I just have to use small pistol primers right?

Just be diligent if you reload with a progressive press that you do not get a small pistol primer case mixed in with the large pistol cases because it will crush and possibly explode when you go to push a large primer in a small primer hole.

Good reloading practice dictates you should re-develop the load recipe since one of the ingredients has changed. In my personal experience I've found the Winchester small pistol primer (WSP) versus their large (WLP) produces a lower muzzle velocity with all other variables kept constant.

I like to keep a healthy supply of the ACP small pistol primer brass handy because occasionally large pistol primers are hard to acquire while small pistol primers seem to always be available.

I share the following results recorded in my reloading log book for demonstration purposes only, these loads were developed by starting with a carefully reduced powder charge and gradually working up while checking for overpressure signs. You must work up your own loads from scratch to accommodate your particular firearm and components; YMMV.

Firearm: G21SF
Distance: 12'
Bullet: Aim Bullets 230gr RN hard cast copper plated
Powder: WIN231 (repackaged lot number 388)
COAL: 1.208" (average)
Brass: Federal
Rounds: 10

WLP:
charge (gr) / max(fps) / min(fps) / mean(fps) / std (fps)
5.0 / 751.3 / 718.0 / 732.8 / 11.18
5.45 / 843.2 / 803.1 / 822.5 / 15.09

WSP:
charge (gr) / max(fps) / min(fps) / mean(fps) / std (fps)
5.21 / 741.6 / 700.3 / 725.5 / 14.35

Note: charge weights are the average of ten powder charges.

In this particular case it is appropriate to apply a linear approximation to the WLP data for the purposes of performing a comparison between WSP and WLP because additional chronograph data supports the assertion that this combination of components is operating within a near-linear range of powder charge versus velocity.

Would expect 5.21gr with WLP to yield a mean velocity of 774.7fps (interpolated) versus WSP mean of 725.5fps (measured).
