hello
just want to share my experience using a small primers for the 45acp. I started using the WW small primers without problems to my 550B press, however since I tried to lighten my action of my SW625 Im having a misfires although I can always go back to the original trigger pull. decided to switch to Federal small primers (100) with a light action, was able to eliminate the misfires and now very reliable, my concern now is in when I doing my reloading. I found out that the federal primers doesnt seat properly to the WW NT brass. I think the problem is not the FED. primer but the brass. Maybe will try to do some primer hole cleaning or swagging unless you have any suggestions. thanks:rolleyes:

Winchester small primers are slightly smaller than FED. I don't know the exact measurements, but someone will post them shortly.

I too have a whack of this brass. I have never measured the primer pockets but maybe they are sized a tad small for WIN primers?

Fudd,
as mention by joe nwt, the fed primers is a little bit differ in size. in my case ,it will not seat smoothly and fully flush, not all brass let,say 15% of a 100. but with the WW primers no problem, I can always use the WW primers to my revolver , but hav to adjust the hammer

I have used the NT brass and found some of the pockets to be a bit tight so I ran all of the stuff over the primer pocket swager to make sure I got rid of the odd tight one. Now can use any primer but the extra work was not appreciated. Maybe Winchester will address the problem and make the pockets more consistant. Maybe not, as their future is uncertain at this time.
