Smaller handguns in Canada?

Hey folks,

Just out of curiosity, what are some of the smaller handguns available in Canada without barrel modification (or with barrel modification that are readily available/mass produced for Canada).

Is something like a Glock 19 with the longer/threaded barrel really the smallest sized/frame gun we can get in 9mm or .45? I've done some searching but haven't found a whole lot on the subject. It's much easier for the states since there's concealed carry so you can find a lot on the subject.

If concealed carry were allowed in Canada, what do you all think you'd consider carrying that's currently available on the market?

I've always been fascinated by things like the derringer, so would be cool to get something small..ish for my collection (non-existing thus far) eventually. Seems like it's not worth it though since they don't really exist in Canada.

The smallest gun you can legally own in Canada would be the Bond Arms Snakeslayer.

You can get them in almost any handgun caliber.

I have seen glock 43s in Canada before. Its the single stack 9mm with only enough grip room to get 1 and a half fingers on.

it has the Canadian barrel on it so it looks kinda silly but I say its the best smallest gun available.

Browning 1911 in .22 or 380...

Beretta 71 in .22... you can get the barrel cut down to 4.2".

The Boberg is remarkably small. 9mm and restricted. The one I tried shot quite well.

The Glock 19 Canadian edition has a non threaded barrel that only protrudes past the slide the bare minimum to make it legal!

There's several different options, some with smaller width, some with smaller grip width. I think the Glock 19 Canadian edition seems to be the smallest most available out there. The 1911's suggested have slimmer grips... go to a gun store and get your hands on some!

Ask around. There are probably members of your club who have them (under 12.6 grandfathering) and who will let you shoot them. The novelty of derringers wears off quickly when you shoot them. If the whole purpose of concealed carry is self-defense - and it it - it makes sense to choose an effective tool. Maybe that is why the Glock 19 is so popular in the United States (especially), and worldwide (generally). On the other hand, if your purpose is to form part a collection, or for historical reenactments, such as the Lincoln assassination, a derringer might make some sense.

Mini Master has to be one of the smallest and lightest pistols available. Metal is so thin mine split at the seams.

Was a fun gun to shoot up until then.

those are very well made guns, never seen that happen, I have had a few of the smaller ones, from 22 short to 22 mag.

Beretta 70 with a 4.2" Barrel is pretty compact, quite reliable as well.
