Boolits recovered. Bud said he was using 168gr Win Ballistic Tips, 30/06 at about 60yds across a beaver pond. First one lunged him the second spined him. Sorry about the crappy pic with all those dehydration things from MREs in the console. No, we couldn't use that Boston Pizza card anywhere close by. Our first moose. It was a lot easier than anticipated after the shot. The only parts we left were the guts and the legs below the elbow/knee.

Congratulations!! This will be fine dining, for sure! A moose that size and younger is prime table fare.
Love that bridge....did you have to get the meat across it? lol. D.

Thanks Eagleye! I didn't get to pull the trigger but it's a team effort. What an animal! I'd love to see a BC, Yukon moose that's a little older. The rib cage & hump must be huge! We finally got ours hung up at my buds place at 02:30 this morning. We cut off the front shoulders and rear legs, then hung the rest of the neck, spine & rib cage in 1 piece in his shop. What do people do with the hides? We took that home too, fingered it's our first moose so we're taking everything back.....lol. I actually wanted to take the bottom leg cut offs too, ha ha. Make a lamp or something.
Hell no! We never attempted to cross. Good thing that's not the area he shot it.

If you are grinding your own burger try a small test sample with 1/3 bacon........it's awesome! Harold

Thanks guys! Bacon in the hamburger??? That's a hell of an idea! Jerky will definitely be made. We're cutting it up tomorrow.
