Have you owned or used one? I've had almost one of every manufacturer over the years, & Yes, the earlier models esp. the 'Charter Arms', is where most of the issues came from. It's quite the innovative little rifle, designed by Eugene Stoner, they did have some Jamming. They were a bit fussy on ammo, {High Velocity Only} but mostly it was with the Mags lining up properly/alignment of the Feed ramps. The thing is, even on the earlier makes, a simple match, paper, or twig, or shim, slide behind the magazine, would angel it just 'so' & not jam. When I figured this out, I never had any more Jams on the earlier ones. They have been in use since the 50's. By the time Henry got the manufacturer rights, any of those issues have been sorted. & the magazines have been re-designed.Nothing about reliable either, think the AR7 was also known as a "Jammomatic or something like that...
Anywayz..My Vote is for the Henry AR-7 if you want a semi. For a bolt action, the Savage, MK II with the 13" barrel is a great rifle.
