If I was intentionally trying to shoot one, 375 H&H would probably be my choice (because it would be a really good reason to go buy one). Trying to defend myself against one, whatever I have in my hands at the time. Fortunately it's very unlikely I'll need Grizz defense in Ontario. ( I think we just discovered a positive note to living in Ontario).

Moosehunter,
I'll vote .375 even if I don't know anything about grizzlies. I'm just a fan of the H&H.:) Pick a harder bullet like a TSX or A-frame, so of the other offering are pretty fragile. Are you hunting or defending?

I voted for the .375 even though it wouldn't be my choice......the 45/70 would be my choice for the smallest and the biggest!

My old man shot this one with a .270(as well as others). He has spent more time in grizz county than most folks out there.

By far not my first choice in bear rifles, but it does work.

The .30-06 is an excellent bear gun when loaded with the right bullet. It is also at the lower end of my comfort level if I was hunting a big bear. The .270 and .280 come very close to '06 perfomance, but I wouldn't be as comfortable with either one. The '06 has a very good match of bullet weight and velocity.
