Are there currently any importers dealing with SMG Guns in regards to the FG 42's they're producing? They've got a full production 8mm and are going into full production on their 308 models:

Wow, I think I am in love. :adult:

That thing would be great for my local service rifle shoots. :D

Email SMG. Imports will not be happening..... :(

Now that is tragic. Of course, the price is probably higher than the rest of my collection combined.... This will just save me from having to sell a kidney or my firstborn to get one.

$5000 USD a pop. Ouch. At least there's the option of it in .308 instead of 8mm Mauser

Pretty sure Wolverine or another board sponsor brought in some Semi-Auto only reproductions from SSD (Germany) a few years ago. As in ten or so, for a few thousand a pop as well.

Having worked on one...cool wallhanger, not something to expect to run a couple hundred rounds through without fixing or replacing parts

Haha - I actually have been, they're fast on the reply to emails :p

Long and the short of it is that they're now considering it, but likely in a year or two as they're too busy with the 308 - they've halted almost all other projects and are ramping up production. Rick mentioned that in the past it simply wasn't possible or economically viable (more than enough demand at home, so why cut into profits by having to get licenced to export?), but now they're interested in selling outside the US. Likely time frame is 1 year + before they even have the time to start dealing with exporting... however in his words "we would love to sell outside the US" ... so that's looking up :D

Yep - they were pricey as all get out - in the 8-10k range! Also heard they had various mechanical issues too.

The SMG guns are different than originals and SSD models - milled 4140 receivers instead of stamped, chrome lined barrels, stainless gas pistons etc etc. Externally identical, internally upgraded :D
Also the 308 uses M1A mags :D

Another reason to covet the AIA 10 rounders if these .308's ever get into Canada and they are somewhat affordable!

I wonder why no one else in Canada is producing AIA mags... the intial tooling would be expensive but what're they going for these days? Stamp it as AIA enfield magazine and it'd probably be profitable.
