I remember reading about these a few years ago. Have any been imported, or classified? Or fat chance.

There was a previous thread on these SMG rifles (I assisted with some of the development of these FG42's). The owner is not willing to apply for the export permit licensing due to costs. Even if in place, the RCMP would have to approve the rifle.
So in reality you would need a large importer to make a large commitment to SMG in order to make it worthwhile and you would need to hope that the rifles would be approved.
They did make a semi-auto Bren Gun, I am sure that would have large sales in Canada and also a DP28 which would fill a large gap in anyone's Soviet collection.
Even if you purchased the rifle as a third party, as soon as the export/importer applied for the US export permit, SMG would be slammed and the permit would be struck down. Trust me, the owner and I looked into every way legally possible to import these rifles during development.
There are semi-auto only versions in Canada right now. They are VERY expensive when they come up for sale. I think the last one I saw was in the $8000 range! I would LOVE to have one!!!
