I have been looking around my club and don't really see anyone else shooting any SMG's. I shoot my Sterling, UMP, Colt SMG and others all the time but I keep getting that "whats the point" look. Does anyone else shoot theirs regularily?

Well, since you brought it up, and to play devil's advocate, with our current
'limited rules of engagement', just what is the point of a semi only, 5 round, pistol cartrige short arm
(OK 10 rounds for the Storm and PC9 SMG 'wannabes'), rather than a
'shorty' AR or Sig CQB in a rifle calibre?
Just to let you know, I have owned a UMP in 45ACP, and currently own a
Storm in 9MM........
At the end of the day, the only real point of these units..Sterling, Colt SMG,
P90, MP5, etc, would be the magic , and forbidden for most, selector.

I guess that argument could be said about every firearm that I own.

And it is one of the gun haters best chants.

As the saying goes, if I have to explain it, you'll never understand.

Amen Brother. While I always reserve the right to ridicule those who do the ridiculous, if you can afford it, and it turns your crank, who am I to question it.

Yep

My Sterling is the ever popular Mark IV Police Carbine....The one thing I have always wondered about is why the "police" needed the bayonet.....Sometimes I put it on at the range just to make the guys with the deer rifles chuckle!

Because in areas where this type of gun are issued to police, people still crowd the cops. The sharp pointy reminder to keep the phuck back is welcome at times.

The SMG types are almost perfect for the range. Pistol Cailber (cheap to shoot) and a Politically Correct 5 round capacity ... unlike those politically incorrect handguns that hold 10 rounds :) .. or even worse..those dreaded "sniper" rifles with scopes on them. Regardless the haters eventually will attack all gun sports.

Actually the accuracy that you can get from a pistol caliber SMG is better than most pistols. At least thats the case with mt B&T TP9.

"Whats the point" .. perhaps offer a few rounds to your hunting rifle types and see if they enjoy the SMG, chances are theyll get a kick out of it.

Boys, boys..you're preaching to the converted!
If I tried to justify the contents of my various gun lockers, I wouldn't get very far!
With my comments, I was looking to get a little discussion going on the pros and cons, pluses and minuses of these little gems (Sterling et al,) not to
denigrate anyone who chose to own and use them....
As stated, I own and enjoy my Storm, and if I could justify the expense, would love to have a Sterling Police carbine, and would kill for a P90..neutered as it would be!
I thought the whole idea of this forum was the exchange of opinions.....

Does your Sterling use a Jungle Carbine bayonet, or a proprietary Sterling bayo, or a Canadian style C1 bayonet?

Any pics or SMG and bayo?
