M27 front sight

It doesn't look like a factory partridge sight. I believe it is a factory all steel blued ramp that has been undercut. I once had a S&W model 15 that was modified that way, it had a great sight picture. To answer your question, original modified front sight.

Yes, I agree. Having owned several S&W wheelguns over the years with patridge front sites, it looks as though yours was modified. However, that said, if you bought it as a "shooter" I'd try it as is & see how it does. If it shoots well you may just want to leave it "as is".

Nice S&W, by the way.

I have a same gun. The red ramp insert came out. I spent 30 dollar fixing it by a gunsmith.

sansuiguy, +1 for this and the guy that said you have a bargain. I really do not think there is a finer revolver than a N-Frame. My M27-2 does have the patridge front sight. Enjoy your new toy and give us a range report. Regards, Richard :D

Nice piece, looks to be in great shape and for an excellant price. I had one in 6". From the Smith's I've had, I would say the sight has been modified. My buddy collects Smith's, send me the serial # if you want and I'll ask him about the details. Looks good though.
