what's the difference between the S&W Model 14 and the Model 15?

I'm guessing that the model 19 is just a .357 version of the above two? Either that or an adjustible sight version of the model 13...

Traditionally, the S&W Model 14 was the factory "K" frame .38 Special target revolver. Before the model numbers I believe it was referred to as the K-38 Masterpiece. Usually had the 6" or 8 3/8" factory barrel. Adjustable rear site.

The Model 15 was essentially the same wheelgun. "K" frame .38 Special but usually with the 4" or 2" factory barrel. Adjustable rear site.

The Model 13 is the "K" frame fixed site .357 Mag. Usually 4" factory heavy barrel. Sometimes came in 3". [Equivalent "K" frame .38 Special version would be the Model 10 with the heavy barrel].

The Model 19 is the "K" frame adjustable rear site .357 Mag. Commonly seen with 4" and 6" factory barrel. There is a 2 1/2" barrel version also. Sometimes called the "Combat Magnum".

NAA.

Model 14s (aka K-38 Masterpiece) are most commonly found with 6" heavy barrels and a Partridge front sight. Some were also made with 8-3/8" barrels. Model 15s (aka Combat Masterpiece) usually have 2" or 4" tapered ribbed barrels and a ramp front sight.

That said, S&W has made Model 14s with shorter barrels and Model 15s with longer barrels. Here is a thread over at the S&W forum discussing the differences:

Model 19s, besides being chambered for .357 Magnum, have heavy barrels with a shrouded ejector rod for additional weight. Frames are also slightly larger through the yoke area than other K-Frame guns.
