Hey there,

Does anyone know where I can get the factory replacement assembly in Canada or from somewhere that ships to Canada? I'm having troubles sourcing somewhere that sells the assembly or a uncaptured guide rod, which I'd prefer, for the 5" Pro Series which is a bit longer than your 4.25" standard model. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Grab a Glock 17 Gen 3 recoil assembly, as it works just fine in the M&P. I’m running an aftermarket Glock 17 tungsten guide rod in my M&P. Sadly M&P factory parts are hard to source in Canada. You’ll have better luck sourcing Glock parts.

Sorry, I should have specified that mine is the 5" Pro model. Do you have the glock guide rod installed in a standard 4.25" M&P or a 5" variant? Worried about the compatibility

Both the 4.25 and 5” M&P models use the same factory recoil guide rod assembly. The aftermarket guide rod I bought were used on both the my 4.25” and 5” Pro Series. So any guide rod that fits the Gen 1-3 Glock 17 fit both 4.25” and 5” M&P’s. On the 4.25” it wasn’t 100% flush (extended maybe 1/8” past the end of the gun).

The reason there are aftermarket uncaptured guide rods out there that only fit the M&P Pro 5” is that they’re extended and fit flush with the 5” barrel (thus heavier). These wouldn’t work on the 4.25” barrels as it would stick out past the barrel approximately 3/4”

I’d look for either a steel or tungsten Gen 1-3 Glock 17 guide rod for your purposes.

Awesome! Thanks for the detailed answer John. I also got a reply from Sean Wolff of Wolff Springs regarding their uncapped guide rods and springs and he basically said the same thing:

"Our guide rods and springs will work in the 5 in pro model. They use the same factory assembly as the standard 4.25 gun, as the guide rod is recessed into the slide and does not run all the way to the muzzle."

Once again, thanks for the help and I hope this helps someone in the future who's having issues sourcing replacement parts for the recoil assembly :)

I use a Wolff guide rod and spring for a G22, just be prepared for some frustration when you install it vs the captured springs.
Pros it's very smooth, no noise.
Cons it's a ##### to install every time you take it out for cleaning.
