I was at the range yesterday and a fellow shooter and myself were talking about our side arms. He's a Glock fan and myself an M&P fan. I was just curious to as who owns what or which of the 2 they'd own...

I didn't mean to just have M&P highlighted at the top, my bad. Should have said M&P VS Glock.

Hey Aaron both are great guns but for me the grip was a better match to my hands so I went with the M&P. Mine has been ultra reliable. Mine is the 9MM version. Like to pick up a .40cal M&P or another 9MM for back-up for playing the games.

Steve over in Peace River is a Glock fan and Brenda over there had problems with her M&P and went to Glock. Who knows.

Take care

I personally like the grip and feel of the M&P and like the trigger feel much better. I don't own either, but have shot both (as associates of mine have both).
However a glock is WAY more customizable (Kinda like the Rem 597 Vs Ruger 10/22 debates)

Ive owned both, still have the M&P, sold the Glock.

Both have there advantages, disadvantages but in the end they are pretty much the same gun when it really boils down to it.

I only sold the Glock cause it was in .357 Sig and the ammo was getting to pricey for my wallet. No complaints about the ergonomics, reliability or functionality of either gun though.

I had a M&P9 for a short while but I sold it. Nothing wrong with the M&P but I shot my Glock 17 better.

Hmmm...Very interesting poll. I have compare a m&P and a Glock side by side, M&P has every bit better than Glock; However the grip angle and the way that take down turn me off. Bought the ugly G17 and very happy with it. Of course I voted Glock.

I shoot better with a Glock and I don't have a problem with the grip angle on the Glock.

Owned several Glocks and 2 M&P's - for me the M&P is what the Glock should have become if they'd continued to develope it. Basically the Glock 17 hasn't changed since it was introduced, it needed to, in order to maintain it's leadership.

I have both. After, pumping out thousands of rounds and disabling the mag safety in the m&P, I came to the conclusion...Anyone want to buy a M&P9?

Hinged trigger is for the birds. Comments about Glock needing to innovate: false. There's a plethora of aftermarket parts and accessories to fill any void you may have in regards to additional features. Glock in my opinon is hands down the definitive police duty pistol. Otherwise, I'd rather shoot a 1911 than either a Glock or an M&P any day.

I also own both. The trigger, and the reset are way better on the Glock. The only thing a tiny bit better on the M&P is the exchangeable grip inserts.

How did you disable your mag safety? It drives me bonkers!

Glock has the advantage.

AdamO hit the nail on the head when he mentioned grip style.
The very fine S&W M&P's exchangeable grip profile gives it an advantage over the stock "love it or leave it'' Glock grip profile.
But that's all. All Glock platforms are modular. Every part save the actual frame can be upgraded, changed, or tailored to you. Lands and grooves barrels being a top choice, along with a highly modifiable trigger.
The M&P is proprietary right now, so aftermarket parts must be either licenced from S&W or made by them. That will change but not until the patent runs out.
The M&P 40 and the Glock 22 both kick like a mule with standard loads, so the 9mm versions are more preferable.

I like my Glocks - I had a G17, G22 and now I have G19 and G23, G26 on the way too.

All my glocks get 10-8 Sights (tritium front), Vickers Mag Release and 3.5# connector / NY1 Olive combo for great trigger.

Love em. I'm thinking about getting another G17.

Personal opinion, I think the Smith pistol is as popular as Sara Palin is to politics is mainly because of S&W's successful marketing campaign.
Maybe gift wrap perfect examples to the best magazine writers, get some good photo spreads,... SIMs '07 pistol of year award couldn't have hurt.

The Glock has been proven so much that reading or typing another praise comment of them is sickening, so I wont.
The M&P is obvs popular for a reason, but time is the test.

The biggest knock against the Glock for most is the grip. It just doesn't fit a lot of hands. This is the only reason why I bought the M&P over the Glock. One thing the M&P did for the Glock lovers is to drop the price down on the Glock 17.

With so many pistols comiung out with adjustable back straps maybe Glock will come out with their 4th Edition with adjustable grips.

Take Care
