Smith and Wesson mod29

Good luck in your search. When you find one, seriously consider going 5" instead of shorter. Measure your barrel to the two different lengths and look at your lettering. Here's my 4.5" next to a 5":

I'd love to find 5". You don't see them for sale. 27s yes.... 29s nope

I don't know if he'll cut one down for you but If anyone could it would be Rodger at Dark International . it would have to be re- registered at the shorter length . if I'm not mistaken . and Wortners in Chatham ONT was or is Smiths warranty repair place. it was many years ago when I owned a smith and it had a recall .

There is one smith that did that, retired now.
If you want it to look like a factory build barrel, with the rise on the front, Hope you have lots of money.
Finding long barrel early 29's is getting hard.
Some 4 in around, at a good price, but unless you are 12-6, that don't work, as you would still have to find a barrel.
and sleaving one of these don't work.
I kind of figured that cutting would be my only option. Can anyone tell me who would be capable of doing this kind of work and what the cost may be. FYI Iam a very fussy person and I would be looking for a perfect job including the bluing at end of barrel. If it didn't look like it came from S&W I wouldn't be happy.

I appreciate all the input. A 29 with a 4" barrel is a gun that I always wanted but no 12-6. Now that I know that the 4.25 was not available in Canada Iam going to have one made. I may change my mind on length once I have revolver in hand. Iam in the process of finding a smith that I feel comfortable with. So far it looks like I will use the guy on the west coast. ( bits of pieces ) He has done this many times before and seems quite knowledgable.
This is going to happen. I will post when everything is finalized.
