When I started out in Federal Corrections, we used same pistol RCMP used. I've been dying to find a very nice condition .38. Anyone help me find one etc?

I hear ya. I saw an ad once for a S&W R8 for 600. Total scam. But, all that said, it might be worth checking out. Proceed with caution.

Don't these scammers take 5 seconds to research what they're trying to sell? Sucker born every minute I guess?
The only way I'd buy that R8 from that seller, would be through escrow, same with that Victory, period.

The funny thing is, I strung him along for a while. I asked for more pictures. He sent more - all from different auction sites :p

I've shot thousands of rounds thru Model 10's including one just like the one in the video.

My very first handgun was a Model 10 with a 4" heavy barrel.

A great handgun!

Brutal.
I've always wanted to do that, but don't buy online often due to personal reasons. When I get a chance though, I will indulge myself! I have done similar with phone scammers though, it's too much fun.

Perhaps it doesn't need to be a Model 10? The 10 is built on S&W's K size frame. They have a whole lotta models built in that same size which are equally classic. There's the iconic Model 19 and Model 14 as well as a bunch of others.

But the sad thing is that you can't just buy one. Most of them only come up used. So you need to be patient and start the hunt.

The other question is do you have your 10-6? The Prohib length guns do show up fairly often and due to the smaller market they tend to sell for less than the longer barrel length Restricteds. So for a Prohib gun $300 to $350 is actually pretty common.

Or do you specifically want an actual Model 10? If so then to find a nice one you may need to just be patient and search a little more. There's certainly lots of them out there but in a market where demand seems to be high the good ones listed for reasonable prices go fast. So you need to work at monitoring the EE and local gun stores.

Most stores will take your name for their phone list when you're looking for something specific like this. And most, if not all of the smaller regular shops take in consignment guns. So get your name out there and keep an eye open and you'll get what you want sooner or later.

The wait is worth it too. They really are great guns to shoot. The only slight issue being that they need to use 158gn loads if you want the fixed sights to shoot holes right on your point of aim. And for the best results mine needs to use cast lead bullets. Jacketed doesn't print quite as tight a group.

EE has them come thru quite often....

In fact there have been a few of them recently, although presumably there are none now. I missed a HB model last spring. These things seem to mysteriously appear in little groups. You might also check TradeEx Canada's website from time to time. (I just did- no joy.)

Be patient. One will turn up. :)

I feel at work we use 124gr 38 +p loads. 18 rounds total lol. Boy we have come far since 09.

Shooting lighter AND faster bullets means that the fixed sight Model 10's will shoot low compared to their point of aim. How low? When I play "Revolver Roulette" with my Model 19 with 5 .38Spl and one .357Mag both using the same 158gn JHP bullets I used to see one tight little group of 5 shots with the one from the .357 about 3 inches lower when shot at around 12 to 14 yards. So shooting the lighter 124's combined with the faster muzzle velocity of it being shot out by +P pressures I'd sort of expect about the same 3 inches lower than POA at around 12'ish yards.

If you check around it'll quickly become apparent that the fixed sight model 10 was always regulated for 158gn bullets at normal .38Spl pressure loads. Anything faster in the bore will tend to print lower. Of course going lighter with the heavy bullet will tend to print a little high. But with regular 158gn .38Spl being quite mild anyway I don't see many folks doing such a thing.
