Smith and Wesson Model 41 - Worth?

While some may feel differently, the M-41 is an excellent semi-auto .22 platform designed specifically for target shooting. The design dates back to the late 1950's and is still produced today in basically the same format. In my opinion it's better at it than a Buckmark or a Ruger well ever be. Nothing's wrong with the BM or the Ruger, the M-41 is just a better gun.

Depending upon the year, condition and what's included (additional barrels, boxes, weights, etc.) you'll likely pay $500 to up over a $1K.

It will be the .22 you'll never want to sell... it's that good a shooter.

It might be just me, I shot them before, while it was good and more accurate than some others but I just don't want to spend anywhere more than seven hundred dollars for a used rimfire pistol. for three four hundred dallors, a NIB Mark III or buckmark can also out shoot the shooters. Save up some money for a nice centerfire pistol is not a bad idea.

Pro's
- Timeless design
- Accurate
- Parts and spare magazines easy to find (and affortable)

Con's
- Can be finicky about the ammo it likes
- Expensive

When you are getting close to the 1K mark for a 22lr... I tend to prefer a euro offering. Either a Hammerli 208, used Walther/Pardini/Morini...

I already have a S&W MP9, CZ 85C, Norc 1911, Taurus PT1911, Ruger SP100. I recently sold my Ruger Mark III hunter but want another .22.

Really like my M41. Also bought another barrel to have both long and short. I prefer the short.

The trigger alone on mine is worth the extra that I paid above the cost of a Ruger. Never have much trouble with cheap ammo feeding either.

If you can find one in good shape for under about $750 your looking at a pretty good buy I would think.

Moe123 where did you find the extra barrel? Did it need any fitting? It would be nice to have a 5"

Someone local to me has one for $900 with only about 50 rounds through it. Decent deal?
