Smith and wesson model 617 worth the money?

I have three S&W 617's and two S&W model 17's All of them are great you just have to deceide which one you like the best.

Without question anyone who tells you that the Ruger is as nice or as good a gun as the S&W either doesn't know what they are talking about or is trying to convince themselves of this. The Ruger works fine but is not even close to the S&W's

Way too heavy.

6" full underlug.

Feels great the first few minutes, then you're fighting to hold it up which eventually affects your grip and etc...

It's hasn't been out for 3 years now.

Been shooting the Model 17 and the Alfa Proj 4.5" blued every chance I get.
 
Its a Smith and Wesson masterpiece, the trigger is buttery smooth and well balanced. Its a very easy transition when switching to the large caliber X and K frame revolvers.
I bought my first 617 about a two weeks ago and I love it so much I bought a second one. Don't worry about the price..... You get what you pay for.
 
The 617 is taking a lot of room, sold my brand new Sig 226 R Classic 22 lr to the RO at the club for the price i paid, it would no have been shot a lot from now on... JP.
 
They look pretty foxed. I considered it but decided to look for one minty one instead of a cheap one then a minty one later lol
