so i just bought this smith and wesson mp40, price was right so i did it, just wondering if there are any issues poeple have had with them or what kind of ammo u guys who may own them use, i no i probably should have maybe asked if they were garbage before buying one, but it felt solid and the decision had to be quick,

thanks for your input i appreciate it

I have a M&P 9MM. great gun. no complaints with it what so ever.

A few issues are there is no safety. and sometimes, when the action is locked open and i slam in a loaded mag, the action closes on its own. But that might also be a feature to speed up reloading times.

all ammo i've tried worked great. no stoppages at all.

but yea its a great gun!

enjoy!

I like my M&P 40. No problems so far. Never had a problem with ammo, except that it shoots tighter groups with some ammo than others.

I'd gladly trade my M&P .40 for a 9mm although I may just get a 9mm storm lake barrel. I do think that a .22lr kit will come out soon as well, so the M&P isn't getting sold for a g23 yet.

Good gun, I've put 8,000 plus rounds through 3 different guns, no issues. The early ones had some teething problems, but those are gone in the new production ones. Soft shooting, accurate and very quick for follow up shots.

Love mine. Have had no failures in 3000 plus rounds that were not ammo related (couple bad sized reloads). Only problem i have with it is keeping it full of ammo:) Very accurate for a service pistol with most ammo. you made a good choice. Love mine ( did i say that allready?)

You won't regret owning this gun, have one and love it! Shoots great (almost as good as my CZ Shadow). Never a problem or a jam with 2,000 rounds through it. The other nice feature is the small med and large hand grips (I have smaller hands and use the small grip). If you take someone to the range you can change out the grip to fit them better. I often have people ask if they can try it out when I'm on the range. Have fun with your new toy!

Mine STOVE PIPED!~~~ lol, what I wont tell you is that is was a weak handed, one handed grip that was the issue (shh, don't tell anyone I suck...lol)

I enjoy the fact that it will send the slide into battery when I reload. Some people will disagree, but, what is the INTENT on reloading anyways? I reload, becuase I intend on firing again, therefore, releasing the slide should be done automatically. I like that.

no issues with ammo
had issue of bad mag release - mdcharlton sorted that out - good to go now
sits low in your hand.
added grip tape to teh front of the trigger guard, wish it would have been factory, like the USP
NOVAK sights are high contrast, and the sight picture is nice...

Bought the 9mm when it frist came to Canada, I had been reading all the reviews in the USA and just waited to get my hands on it, since then

3 years of IPSC abuse holster and all, still almost no mark
great gun for me and my wife loves it too
will eat anything you throw at so far anyways
no breakage after 3 years of ipsc
I am sure that I could keep going :)

BAD
I figure I should put something so people don't think I work for S&W :)
- this is a light gun so you feel the kick a bit more
- The saftey this in ipsc is a pain somethings (empty mag to hammer down)
