Pretty much all their revolvers have holes above the cylinder release, I've seen ppl plug something in that hole. Does anyone know where to get that in Canada?rimg.jpg

I’ve haven’t been able to find any up here and the cost and wait to get one from a couple different guys making them in the USA wasn’t worth it. I don’t notice it anymore from the ones I have with it and ones I have without it.

No holes in any of mine !

A lot of the guys posting on the Smith and Wesson Forum in the U.S. buy their hole plugs from a company called Original Precision, the website of which is just originalprecision.com. The only S&W I had (have, actually, as I am back in Mexico right now but the only gun we own(ed) I have access to today is my wife's Model 60 snubby and even that is a drive across town) was/is my Model 627 and I never got around to plugging the hole.

When I move back here fulltime that is a project I will worry myself about. Good luck!

YMMV, but frankly I don't see it as an issue. Apparently some people in the US think it might affect reliability but I don't think this has actually been documented and in any case for 99.9% of us here it'si irrelevant since we can't carry for protection anyway. My 625-8 has it and the way I look at it, it saves me another trigger lock as it's at least as effective as a regular lock and I always have the key on my key ring.

OTOH, if it bothers you "just because", I guess there's no reason not to go for it but IMHO $40 USD is way too steep. (And the website is a disaster on multiple levels. Crikey!)

Was I supposed to get one of those keys with my new 686-6 Pro Series?

I would assume so ?? I got my 625-8 used many years ago and a key came with it. I think I called S&W to get a spare and they sent them to me, maybe to my alternate US address but I wouldn't think it would matter. If you didn't get one I'd call them, although if they refer you to the new distributor, you might be hooped as I've heard nothing good about them. Part # is 29896

I just looked online. $4.79 from Midway (no use to Canadians) and $12.95 (!!!!) on Amazon US. N/A on Amazon.ca (not surprising)

OP I got my lock delete from the fellow who originally designed them years ago (John Witt).

Another company in the US is making them now - looks like they will ship to Canada

Hey - good stuff! I'll check the box for the key.

In the video, you see a steel clip on the top strap above the forcing cone. What's that all about?
