So thinking about buying a surplus victory model in 38s&w, unfortunately will be buying from marstar, has anyone bought one of these from them and comment on the condition of them they have a fair condition and good condition, also are parts for these readily available?

Marstar is excellent to deal with. Just ask them for photos of the gun you going to receive and decide for yourself whether its worth or not to buy. Personally I never had any bad deals or things that were not corrected after wards with Marstar.
As for the S&W Victory model. They are sturdy and reliable revolvers, built like tank and would really be hard pressed in order to brake something in it. There are lots of parts for them, I think there are close to million of them built.
One thing to may be ask Marstar is to measure muzzle of your chosen revolver in order to see what bore it has. There are 357 bores and there are 362 diameter ones. With obviously 357 bore you would be able to use regular 38 special bullets while for 362 you would need to source more expensive slugs in 360 range or take up casting as hobby.
Anyways I have 3 of them. Two of them have 357 bores that have pre victory serial numbers and one mint US property one that has 363 diameter bore.
I reload my ammo with regular 356-357 slugs components and brass can be made from 38 special cases. So reloading is a must for these.
Better yet ask Marstar for pictures and post them here. We will be able to figure out what kind of animal we are dealing with as there are many variances.
As not all of them created equal and not all ammo would be accurate in all of them.
