Smith experts .44 RM

I have had this desire to get a Model 29-x or a 629 Smith & Wesson in .44RM.

What are the goods and bads with the two models? I'm leaning toward the M29. I have two "L" frames (stainless) and I like them. I would be looking for the 6 inch or longer barrel.

The blued smiths are polished better. With stainless they expect you to finish it yourself.

629-3 and 29-5 ( if memory serves) have the upgraded lockwork. I prefer the 29-2 and earlier, but there isnt a lot of physical difference. - dan

I have a 629-3, it has 6" barrel with full lug, adjustable front sight and unfluted cylinder. I also have a 29-2, 6 1/2" with magnaport. They are both very nice to shoot, but the action and trigger are notably better on the 29-2. I also prefer the balance of the 29-2 without the full lug.

Chocolate or vanilla, whichever you like better. I also have a nice nickel 29-2 that I don't shoot, if you're interested in some bling.
