While shooting my 625, the rear sight suddenly popped up and almost fell off the gun.

Tonight I returned to the range and found the part that fell off. Here is what the sight looks like. Pay attention to the black screw on the left and the little silver coloured tab under the elevation screw:

The silver tab has a threaded stud on top of it. This stud threads up into the inside of the elevation adjustment screw. The tab slides into a slot in the revolver frame, and holds the sight down against the spring tension of the long strap.

The black screw goes into the forward end of the strap and holds it flat on top of the frame.

If the balck screw starts to come loose, the rear sight goes down. The logical thing for a shooter to do is to give it a couple of UP clicks, which eventually pulls the sight clear of the stud - which then falls out.

Solution: Loosen off the front little screw and give it a dab of BLUE LockTite.

I was very, very lucky to find that little stud. Won't happen again. I am sitting here with a pile of revolvers, a small screwdriver and my LokTite.
